Horsemanship Lessons
Here at Bienvenue Acres we offer quality riding instruction for the beginning rider through the advanced rider. Whether you wish to ride for education, pleasure or to excel in the show ring our lesson programs are customized by the instructor to meet your needs and goals. Equine Training
Developing a solid foundation in your equine partner is the core of our program here at Bienvenue Acres. Patience and trust create the perfect learning environment while utilizing our relaxed setting to help your horse thrive during training. Whether you and your partner are looking for a refresher program, are just starting under saddle or may be preparing for the show ring we will help build a customized program tailored to your needs. Having years of experience in ground work, starting young horses and showing Bienvenue Acres will help you develop a plan that will allow you to excel to your utmost potential. We encourage you as the owner to be part of the training process allowing you to develop as a team. Lesson Rates
Welcome to the Lesson program. Whether you are new to horses or have been riding your whole life, we have a program that will fit your needs. Call to schedule at 228-357-0431
Lessons will never be cancelled due to weather. If conditions are dangerous (i.e. high winds, hail) the students will instead have a barn lesson. These options could include tack cleaning, taking apart & putting together a bridle, wrapping, braiding etc.

Lesson Outline

To get started:
  • Get your assigned horse from the stall or paddock

  • Bring your horse to the grooming / tack station

  • Groom, using curry-hard brush-soft brush and pick hooves-fly spray as necessary

  • Get your horses assigned tack to the tack station-saddle-pad-girth-bridle-martingale

  • Make sure you are ready to ride- helmet/ hairnets & gloves. No Cell Phone!!

  • Tack up your horse and get ready to ride

  • Prior to mounting, check your girth

Instructors will advise you where you are ridding today and what the "lesson" plan is.

“Lesson Time In the Saddle” is derived thru use of certified horsemanship association “Composite” Manual. Running from Level 1 thru Level 4

At the conclusion of your lesson:
  • Dismount outside the barn & back to tack station

  • Always remove bridle & put halter on before all else

  • Then get comfortable, remove saddle, pad & girth

  • Wipe tack down with provided tack cleaner and put back in assigned location

  • Curry your horse and bath depending on conditions 

  • Always let your horse dry prior to putting back in stall or paddock
